I have been thinking of writing this for last few years.Finally i have got time to write about a unique event which will happen once in every year in our native which is called "Valukku Maram Aerudhal"
ADI-18 festival is a very famous one all over tamilnadu.We have been celeberating this specially in our native since 6 years.We among the youth had formed a group name "Nanbargal narpani mandram" were conducting an enjoyable game called "Valukku maram Aerudhal" which depicts our tamil culture,one thing to tell about this game is not that easy not easy at all.
Valuku Maram is nothing but a long pole wherein grease and oil are applied all over the pole.This helps is slipping people whoever climbs on it.Though it is very hard to climb for a person it looks very funny to watch and a good entertainment to watch . Next there comes a motivation factor for a person to climb,yeah your guess is rite we will fix a money bundle on the top of the pole and whoever reaches top they can take away the money while returning home.This excites all the boys who participated to climb one above the other to reach the top to get the bundle.
This year Adi festival is no less than a very big game show.We enjoyed to the core throughout the day and our group Nanbargal Narpani mandram conducted many game shows to the childrens below 18 years.Those moments can't be expressed in words which still not going away from my thoughts.We started our Valukku Maram at 3:30 P.M with 20 teams registered.Game started with full heat and with great roar from the crowd with around 1000 people anticipating the winner when 3 persons per team starts climbing to reach the top .
As on when time goes crowd started increasing in number.We played Cricket,Football,Volleyball but we never got such advises and comments from all sections of peoples,they gave lot of suggestions and comments till the end.Finally around 8:30 one team with 5 members reached the top and took away the prize.Longest moments with great applause from the crowd with ectacy and broken surprise.Its really worth seeing which ended with lot of camera flashes and videos captured.
It has been a really great experience altogether for all of us with huge crowd and exciting competition like this.At the end of the day with all full tiredness we were all happy to conduct such events in tamil culture and taste even in the 21st century.
Awaiting for next ADI to carry forward the enjoyment in tamil soil with its great same old flavour !
